On a cruise to paradise
" It was a happy crowd coming ashore after a great day at sea with amazing weather "

On a warm, sunny Saturday at the beginning of our rainy season 21 members and guests assembled aboard two boats, M/V Olympia and Darling, heading for paradise. Our rendezvous was between the two Khao Yao islands.

Starting the day perfectly we enjoyed a Bloody Mary or coffee and croissants followed by a lightly sparkling Les Fumées Blanches 2015 and Trevisiol Rosé ‘Cuvée Edoardo’ Spumante Brut NV.

We cruised together to our destination, the Paradise Resort on Koh Yao Noi. The resort is set on an amazingly beautiful beach in north east part of the island with the original resort and just completed tree houses nestling between trees and plants.
Our first stop was to visit the newly-created tree house reception area and bar with a small restaurant, where friendly staff served Aperol Spritz, Champagne, Chablis, red wines and canapés including fin de claire oysters.
Lunch was at Al Fresco Restaurant, an octagonal eaterie 40 meters from the beach. We were served salads, tom yum soup, a wide selection of seafood and a beautiful selection of small desserts.
Wines we enjoyed included:
- Champagne Baron Albert “L’Universelle”
- Chablis 2015 - Domaine Laroche
- Château Belregard-Figeac 2012 - Saint Émilion Grand Cru
Many at my table decided to try the Saint Émilion with the fish and were not disappointed.
By 3pm the tide was ebbing. The boats needed to get back through the channel into the marinas. A very unwilling group left the tables for a quick group photo and transfer into the boats. It was a happy crowd coming ashore after a great day at sea with amazing weather.
A special thank you went to Marc Landgraf, General Manger, Managing Director Joe Raess and their staff at Paradise Resort for a unique Chaîne experience.
