For months, our committee had been waiting fervently to share our gorgeous discovery - Babe.

Chef Jeff Ramsey’s modernist Japanese-accented tapas ‘Japas’ fun dining venture is one of the exciting new restaurants in Kuala Lumpur. Coupled with a panoramic view of the city, eleven floors up on top of a hill in the suburbs, dining is truly a sublime experience.

Most appropriate, and timely as well, for a tribute to our late Vice-Conseiller Gastronomique 2013-2017, Wendy Lewis, who had sadly passed away in April this year. In her years of duty, Wendy immaculately and efficiently organised our Chaîne dinners at the best venues in Malaysia. Without a doubt, she is truly a babe!

We were honoured that Wendy’s husband Ken, her son Mike, and her brother Wong Mun Ho joined our celebration. Wong Mun Ho having designed our Bailliage’s logo this was the perfect opportunity to thank him and present him with a lapel pin of it.

Closely following Babe’s current summer tasting menu, we started with Champagne Laurent-Robert Blanc de blanc served from magnums with these delightful seafood canapés:
- Hawaiian lomi-lomi salmon
- Bonito crisp
- Crispy Alaskan king crab airbread

Vice-Conseiller Gastronomique Olivier Di Tullio (of Château de Lafont) and Professionel du Vin Laurent Robert (of Delia Wines) provided the champagne for the reception and French wines for the dinner.

After dinner, members and guests relaxed enjoying conversation and dancing to Wendy Lewis’ favourite songs playing against the backdrop of the shimmering lights of Kuala Lumpur.
