With sea and sun providing a sparkling backdrop Vila Joya’s “SEA” beach restaurant was the relaxing venue for a friendly lunch for members and their guests. The exclusivity of this beautiful venue is not only dictated by its innovative cuisine but also by its size allowing only a limited number to be pampered at any one time.

Everyone was greeted with a welcome drink of sparkling sangria and given ample opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Algarve coast before service commenced.

The brief for the menu was to reflect the Chef’s judgement regarding the ingredients of the day.

We were treated to exquisitely-balanced combinations of taste as we sampled the dishes: nigiri, tuna tataki, chilled melon soup followed by wakame salad and entrecote. At the same time, we were entertained watching the kitchen brigade at work creating each plate.

As a grand finale the desert consisted of a realistically-crafted pebble filled with chocolate and a tiny edible flip flop echoing the surroundings of the sandy pebble beach.

This event, as with every other Bailliage gathering, generated funds for the charities worldwide supported by the Chaîne’s ACCR charitable foundation including the Gastronomy School here in Portugal.
