Fairytale evening at Shanghai Disney Resort
" The magical occasion ended with a happily-ever-after view of the fireworks "

A happily-ever-after evening was enjoyed at the ‘Fairytale Evening Princesses and Princes’ in Shanghai Disney Resort’s Enchanted Storybook Castle. A total of 109 Chaîne members and friends gathered on the castle’s outdoor terrace with a beautiful sunset backdrop over the theme park. Champagne Louis Roederer Brut Premier flowed freely and hors d’oeuvres were passed around by Disney staff dressed in traditional castle costumes. Photo opportunities were snapped up with Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty.

This dramatic landmark, the Enchanted Storybook Castle, evokes a sense of timeless tradition, its graceful turrets reaching high into the sky toward wishes, hopes and childhood dreams. The Royal Banquet Hall with its themed rooms offers fairy-tale dining in a storybook setting with favourite Disney characters stopping for a chat.

Inside the castle, we sat at elegant tables in two separate dining spaces. Bailli Délégué Allen Wong greeted members and their friends with the traditional Chaîne introduction. Conseiller Culinaire Jürgen Sterkau introduced the menu with Jean-Marie Pratt, Sommelier at LEGLE France, presenting the wines.

Two members were celebrating their birthday, Michelle Sun, a Dame de la Chaîne from Shanghai, and Richard Liu, Bailli of Wenzhou [Ed. the newly-formed Bailliage launched on October 27th]. Accordingly, two Mickey Mouse cakes were presented to Michelle and Richard while everyone sang “Happy Birthday”!

Bringing the spectacular evening to a close, Bailli Délégué Allen Wong and Conseiller Gastronomique Lorin Young presented Shanghai Disney Resort Culinary Director, Maître Hôtelier Alan Orreal, and his team the Bailliage’s plaque in appreciation and recognition of their hard work in making such fantastic culinary dreams a reality.

The magical occasion ended with a happily-ever-after view of the fireworks, water fountain and laser light show in the VIP area in front of the castle.
