Mauritius Inaugural Chapitre

Bailliage of Mauritius
Flic en Flac, January 19, 2019

Worth a long flight!
" Word will spread and success will be seen "

As the Chair of the New Bailliage Development Committee I attended the founding of this new National Bailliage.

Mauritius is an Indian Ocean island nation known for its beaches, lagoons and reefs. The mountainous interior includes Black River Gorges National Park, with rainforests, waterfalls, hiking trails and wildlife like the flying fox. The country’s capital, Port Louis, has sites such as the Champs de Mars horse track, Eureka plantation house and 18th-century Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens.

Kareena Neisius, the new Bailli Délégué, had never attended a Chaîne event. She followed the guidelines and regulations from the internet. In addition we exchanged many emails. The result was amazing!

Thirty-five members are the minimum to found a new Bailliage. Within a relatively short time Kareena gathered more than 40 of whom I inducted 28 at this inaugural Chapitre.

The event and Gala dinner were outstandingly well organised. It was clear that Kareena had chosen a very capable team to help her with the preparations. It was a friendly, amiable and hospitable crowd who gathered on the lawn in front of the Sugar Beach Resort Hotel for the reception after the Induction Ceremony.

Mauritius is a paradise with a lot to offer. Graeme Robertson, an Officier in the Bailliage of Singapore, also lives on Mauritius and has recognised the potential. He initiated and gave guidance where needed. Kareena on the other hand has found very enthusiastic members for her Board.

Word will spread and success will be seen. The next event is already planned for March 27th at Le Géron with another 15 new members to be inducted. Naturally, I send good luck wishes to them all for the future of this latest addition to the international Chaîne family.

Vive la Chaîne!
