World Chaîne Day

April 13, 2019

Creating a virtual chain around the world
" I would like to express my deepest gratitude to you all "

We went from a tropical morning champagne cruise in Moara, Brunei, to the snowy and sunny hills in Oppdal, northern Norway.

We went from a candidate for the smallest city in the world (Durbuy in Belgium) to large Asian metropolis like Kuala Lumpur, Beijing and Shanghai.

Big bridges in Istanbul and stunning mountains opening towards North Korea in Seoul. Amazing old mansions, museums, dinner clubs appeared as venues. Simple, cosy, friendly family restaurants as well.

Sandy deserts and camels in Israel and a most colourful Mediterranean brunch in India.

We saw beautiful beaches and frozen lakes, old ruins and cutting edge modern technology.
Not to forget huge, cheerful events crossing the whole USA.

And all that creativity on the plates!

I could write these comparisons and descriptions almost endlessly about this year’s World Chaîne Day, such a success it was!

But for me, the most important message I found in what fellow members around the world wrote was that of sending warm and cordial greetings, all those waving hands in pictures showing genuine togetherness.

The core idea of World Chaîne Day is creating a virtual chain around the world. This came absolutely true this year!

As a Chair of the WCD I would like to express my deepest gratitude to you all, both Bailliages and individual members, who made the day such a success.
