Joint celebration by Italian and Monegasque members
" World Chaîne Day was duly celebrated with enthusiasm, camaraderie and gastronomy "
On the occasion of World Chaîne Day 2019, members and their guests from the National Bailliage of the Principality of Monaco and of the local Italian Bailliage of Sanremo met in Ventimiglia, Italy, for a convivial lunch.
Accompanied by Gabriella Ivaldo and her husband Massimo, respectively Bailli and Bailli Honoraire of Sanremo, Gérard Canarie, Bailli Délégué of Monaco, warmly welcomed the participants.
Notable amongst the group was Jean-François Guichard, recently appointed as Bailli Délégué of France, who had travelled from his home in the Bordeaux region to honour the event with his presence under the sign of friendship.
And so it was that on this sunny day the seventy or so Italian and Monegasque members and guests gathered in the elegant setting of the Ristorante Balzi Rossi.
On the programme was Liguria's outstanding cuisine lightened and refined, an exceptional location in front of the sea (much admired!), as well as the minimalist setting.
Chef Giuseppina Coslovich had specially conceived a sea-themed menu for the pleasure of the diners.
MENU
Locally-caught octopus
cream of peas and burrata, minced anchovies
Fresh pasta cooked “al dente”
with pesto and green beans
Stone bass and cod with shellfish
Dessert
“Surprise of Savona”
(First Prize in Slow Food Awards)
Mignardises
World Chaîne Day was duly celebrated with enthusiasm, camaraderie and gastronomy – all in the finest traditions of the Chaîne.
