Italy Gala Dinner

Bailliage of Novara-Lomellina et Lago Maggiore, Italy
Pettanasco, October 21, 2019

'The stars on Lake Orta' - a magical night
" An emotion rich evening combined haute cuisine with solidarity "

It was a magical night at the Hotel Approdo in Pettenasco where the event “The Stars on Lake Orta” was held.

Giorgio Palma, Bailli of Novara Lomellina and Lago Maggiore, actively collaborated with the non-profit-making committee of “The Stars on Lake Orta Onlus” organisation. Giorgio was particularly pleased with the participation of Chaîne Non-professional members. Above all he was proud of representing noteworthy Professional members such as Maître Rôtisseur Marco Sacco and Maître Rôtisseur Antonino Cannavaciuolo especially after the recent survey awarding Villa Crespi first place in Italy among luxury restaurants and third place worldwide!

An emotion rich evening combined haute cuisine with solidarity. All the Michelin-starred chefs in the area (and there are so many) joined in donating their time as did in the main the suppliers with their produce.

Thanks to the support of our Bailli Délégué Roberto Zanghi the National Bailliage donated 1,000 euro which was added to the 41,000 euro raised during the evening. The money will be allocated to the Capuchin Friars of San Nazzaro della Costa who manage the Mensa dei Poveri of Novara and the community of Sant'Egidio.

The starry brigade comprised:
- Antonino Cannavaciuolo of Michelin 2-star Villa Crespi (at Orta S. Giulio)
- Marco Sacco of Michelin 2-star Piccolo Lago (at Mergozzo-Verbania)
- Massimiliano Celeste of Michelin 1-star Il Portale (at Verbania-Pallanza)
- Marta Grassi of Michelin 1-star Tantris (at Novara)
- Luisa Valazza of Michelin 2-star Al Sorriso (at Soriso)

Additionally, there were two newly-starred Chefs of the area:
- Vincenzo Manicone of Michelin 1-star Cannavacciuolo Bistrot (at Novara)
- Andrea Monesi of Michelin 1-star Locanda di Orta (at Orta S. Giulio).

Furthermore, as an emerging Chef in the region, Marco Tozzi of Ristorante Madé in Lesa was highlighted for creating original finger food to accompany the aperitif.

Late at night, after some indispensable digestifs everyone made their way home to wait for the “Stars” next year!

Vive la Chaîne!
