Getting into the Christmas spirit
" Our most special toast of the evening was dedicated to continuance of enjoyable events like this one "

A few days after the celebration of the Chapitre in Madrid the Bailliage of Barcelona held its traditional Christmas dinner at the Restaurante Rías de Galicia run by our dear friend and fellow member, Maître Restaurateur Cándido Iglesias.

Using the slogan “the best the sea has to offer”, the restaurant is the most iconic seafood restaurant in Barcelona, a meeting point for national and international gourmets, synonymous with the best Galician seafood. For over 30 years Rías de Galicia has offered diners the finest seasonal seafood passionately prepared and combined with the best service.

The reception was in the cellar that Grup Iglesias* has developed as an emblematic space dedicated to the world of wine. Snacks accompanying the Codorníu ‘Prima Vides’ Brut Cava were:
- Joselito ham croquette
- natural Galician oyster
- traditional Galician pilchard pie
- Catalan dried cod salad
- marinated corvina

Continuing on to dinner, we enjoyed the following courses:
- Cannelloni of ceps and squid
- Monkfish with dried romesco and American sauce
- 70% chocolate dessert

Leiras Albariño Rias Baixas, also from Codorníu, accompanied each dish marvellously.

Thank you very much Bailli José Felix Bentz i Oliver, his partner “Montse” (Dame de la Chaîne Montserrat Simal Vázquez) and the Bailliage officers for arranging an extraordinary evening.

Our most special toast of the evening was dedicated to continuance of enjoyable events like this one.

Best wishes for 2020 … and of course, vive la Chaîne!
