Israel - Message from the Bailli Délégué

Bailliage of Israel
Tel Aviv, April 14, 2020

Remaining positive, keeping up the spirits!
" Take care and be safe "

We recently had an initiative among our members. We arranged for them to buy cases of wine in support of a small family-operated guest house in Galilee that had a stock of wine and no business.

Given the partial lock down in Israel some members volunteered to bring the wine over to members who had bought cases.

The Bailliage has also helped raise money to charter a flight to bring stranded Israelis back from South America. We put the link on our WhatsApp group which received lots of support.

On a personal level I gave a Zoom lecture on hotel reception and hospitality to students studying to be hoteliers.

The last Bailliage dining event was held on February 23rd in remembrance of Daliah Lerner, a former Conseiller Gastronomique of the Bailliage, who, whilst no longer a current Chaîne member, remained very active in the gastronomy scene.

Last but not least, at 7pm on March 7th, via Zoom I set up a special virtual wine toast for Passover.

On the eve of Passover members could join in. Dress code was “ribbons and a glass of wine”!

It lasted for an hour. Everyone gave a short speech and at the end, in my capacity as Bailli Délégué, I concluded the session with a “Vive la Chaîne!” toast.

Take care and be safe
