We must not lose our zest for life
" For the main course, we had lobster, asparagus, samphire and new potatoes - wonderful! "

For this very different year for World Chaîne Day Rolf and I felt it was important to focus on the essentials. Coronavirus is a drastic event in our lives that has changed the world yet we must not resign, we must not lose our hope, our courage and zest for life, but must look forward and shape our life and find joy in life.

With this in mind, we prepared a “Stay at Home” menu for the two of us. Rolf was the head cook. He conjured up wonderful taste experiences. It started with finger food from asparagus carpaccio on goat cheese and scallop on asparagus. Champagne Pommery ‘Blue Top’ accompanied.

Then Rolf spoiled me with salmon, white asparagus and samphire with an excellent homemade mayonnaise - delicious! Côtes de Provence Château La Gordonne ‘La Chapelle’2016 was a wonderful treat with it.

For the main course, we had lobster, asparagus, samphire and new potatoes - wonderful!

Dessert was very tasty strawberries with Advocaat. A classic dish in our house accompanied naturally by Champagne, what else!

It was a wonderful evening. We enjoyed it immensely, but we lacked something: our Chaîne friends from all over Germany and from other countries. The openness and warmth of many international friends is what defines the Chaîne, what characterizes the Confrérie.

We hope that this crisis will soon be largely over. It won’t go away, but we hope that soon, even if only on a small scale, we'll be able to meet and chat with Chaîne friends again and that we'll all get through it in good health.
