Regency Hotel supporting those less fortunate
" proud that the spirit of humanity, charity and faith is strong "

Officier Maître Hôtelier Otto Kurzendorfer is the General Manager of The Regency Kuwait. On World Chaîne Day, April 25, 2020 Otto posted:
“Today is World Chaîne Day - a culinary association I have proudly been part of for 23 years. Today we cooked, packed and dispatched 1800 Iftar meals [Ed. Iftar is the evening meal with which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast at sunset] for both Muslim and Non-Muslim people suffering from the coronavirus fallout here in Kuwait.

Those privileged by life have the daily responsibility to help those less fortunate in society. I am proud that the spirit of humanity, charity and faith is strong. I wish all my friends in the Chaîne globally a wonderful time celebrating our special day.”

On May 12, Otto subsequently wrote:
“The Annual Ramadan Charity activity of our hotel is closely related with the Al Sane family in Kuwait, a religious devout family of business leaders who have owned The Regency Kuwait (formerly The Regency Palace, formerly The Hyatt Regency) since its opening in 1981.

We have served Iftar for many years in mosques across the city (last year 84,000 meals over 30 days in a communal / sharing style). This year due to the lockdown we had to change our modus operandi. We prepared individual food boxes containing a main course, salad, dates, bread and drinking yoghurt. Currently we produce about 2,500 boxes per day, sponsored and paid for by the hotel and its owner’s family.

Over the 36 days of this year’s operation 30 people have been living in the hotel. They have been observing the fasting and praying that the Holy Month of Ramadan requires them to do as well as preparing all the food. We acknowledge their contribution which has enabled everything to run so smoothly.”

Ed. Pure elegance and luxury in the heart of Kuwait City, the five-star Regency Hotel is one of the finest hospitality establishments on the Arabian Gulf. In response to this challenging time the organisation has pivoted in order to fulfil in a safe way its commitment to the annual Ramadan Charity activity described above by Otto.
