Having had very successful on-line live beer and wine tasting events in September and November 2020 respectively, it was now time for whisky!

The National Bailliage organized yet another interesting virtual OMGD (Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs) event. An on-line live whisky tasting in which 45 members participated was held in cooperation with Diageo’s subsidiary in Turkey (Mey-Diageo).

The tasting featured six of Diageo’s well known whisky brands, including two single malts and a vertical tasting of selected Johnnie Walker whiskies, some of which are not yet released onto the market.

- Johnnie Walker ‘Black Label’
- Johnnie Walker 18 Years
- Johnnie Walker & Sons ‘Celebratory Blend’
- Johnnie Walker ‘Blue Label’

The presentation and tasting of the six whiskies was moderated by Diageo’s Johnnie Walker Brand Ambassador Ertan Engin.

He enlightened the participants with his in-depth knowledge about the specifics and the making of these whiskies, as well as his recommendations for food pairings.

The event was conducted in Turkish with a simultaneous English translation thus accommodating the non-Turkish speakers taking part.

On the logistics side, Diageo organized elegant whisky tasting kits. Each one delivered to the participants’ respective homes contained a box with six 5cl bottles as well as a special whisky tasting glass and a Johnnie Walker branded crystal whisky glass.

At the end of the unique presentation and live tasting of these fabulous whiskies online, Brand Ambassador Ertan Engin invited contributions for a Q&A session during which he was able to answer all the questions as well as clarifying interesting, related topics.

Participants definitely enjoyed both the knowledge gained and tasting of these superb whiskies while seated comfortably at their homes. Moreover, and most importantly, members were overwhelmed and appreciative to meet each other online.
