Relaxed casual event by the ocean at the 'Terrace at the Slipway'
" The casual style was demonstrated by the relaxed pool and ocean-side ambiance of the Terrace not to mention the innovative tapas cuisine "

The National Bailliage was inaugurated in November 2015 with a Chapitre at the Hyatt Regency. It was a grand affair!

In complete contrast, the first event of the New Year was an informal dining event at the “Terrace at the Slipway” overlooking Msasani Bay.

The casual style was demonstrated by the relaxed pool and ocean-side ambiance of the Terrace not to mention the innovative tapas cuisine.

The event began with Moët et Chandon Champagne cocktails courtesy of QWay, the wines’ sponsor for the event. The high tables encouraged members and their guests to mingle and socialise. Other tables were however set up for those who still preferred to sit!

Chef Karl started the dinner with three fish dishes comprising scallops, tuna and kingfish, barracuda, and octopus prepared in a variety of ways. Cloudy Bay Sauvignon was the delicious vinous accompaniment.

After the fish Chef Karl served a vegetarian assortment paired with Chilean Terrazzas Chardonnay.

A selection of beef and then pork was served with Australian Cape Mentelle Cabernet-Merlot and Cape Mentelle Shiraz.

Finally Chef Karl served a variety of desserts of which the favourite was “Wafer cones with iced nougatine glace, salted caramel and topped with caramel popcorn”. Adding to the sparkling finish (literally) was Moët et Chandon ‘Nectar Imperial’ Rosé Champagne.

The successful event was hosted by Échanson Thomas Scherer, who is General Manager of the Terrace. He was assisted by Restaurant Manager Michalis Xekalos and Chef Karl Chapman.

Fifty members, their partners and invited guests were present. Everyone enjoyed the ambiance, the excellent food and wines.

Special thanks were given by Bailli Délégué Hatim Karimjee to Chargée de Presse Sarah Scott as not only was she the organiser, she had inspired and designed the style of the event.
