Austria Lunch

Bailliage of Tyrol, Austria
Kitzbühel, March 20, 2016

The 'Josefi' tradition

Near to the day St. Josef, Tyrol’s patron saint, the Bailliage of Tyrol organised a “Josefi Lunch” at the Sport & Wellnesshotel Bichlhof, Kitzbühel.

Bailli Provincial Walter Hopfner and his family welcomed members and guests from Austria, Germany and Italy. A beautiful bright day presented wonderful views to the ski region of Hahnenkamm and the mountains of the Wilder Kaiser. It also enabled the aperitif (of Bründlmayer Brut sparkling wine from the Langenlois region of Austria) to be served on the hotel’s terrace.

Maître Rôtisseur Karl Aichholzer, Executive Chef at the Bichlhof for over 20 years, prepared a magnificent menu:

Lake trout and asparagus
carpaccio and tartare, smoked green asparagus
asparagus espuma, young leaves, citrus vinaigrette
2014 Weingut Spiess Weisser Burgunder – Rheinhessen, Germany

Wild garlic cream soup
garnished with a rock lobster wonton set on a rosemary skewer

After an appreciation given by Chancelier Provincial Ernst Heindl to the assembled kitchen and service brigades, the unanimous opinion of the members and their guests was that they would come again to a Josefi Lunch – roll on 2017 therefore!
