Celebrating the arrival of Beaujolais Nouveau

Members and their guests attended another perfect evening at the InterContinental Hotel to welcome this year’s Beaujolais Nouveau wine which was delivered safely to Chongqing with the help and support of JB Wine.

The Beaujolais shone throughout the whole dinner, especially given that it was paired with spectacular food in a classic French home-style menu created by Chef Jack Bai for the occasion.

He delighted us by starting with a classic French salad with lightly sautéed bacon, sliced eggs and croutons with French dressing, followed by a beautiful homemade French onion soup and an exquisite beef roulade with Dauphiné potatoes, fresh garden asparagus and broccoli florets.

After the main course we were pleasantly surprised by a cheese trolley with an extensive selection of French cheeses for everyone’s delight. What a preamble for dessert which was a rich chocolate mousse with poached pear and blueberries.

After the dinner we continued to enjoy the Beaujolais Nouveau, discussing its merits, chatting with each other and taking photos.

It was another wonderful Bailliage of Chongqing evening, the first we had held celebrating the arrival of the latest vintage of Beaujolais Nouveau. The new wine was superb and perfect to drink on this early November evening with great friends and fellow members.
