Caribe Mexicano lunch celebrated the worldwide event

Cozumel is an island in the Caribbean Sea off the eastern coast of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. The name Cozumel was derived from the Mayan meaning “island of swallows”. The island’s economy is based on tourism with diving and charter fishing activities being especially important to the economy as are the visiting cruise ships.

With its spectacular setting between sand and the turquoise sea of the Caribbean, it was the perfect place for a celebration.

For World Chaîne Day, Bailli Philippe Fournier organized a “Caribe Mexicano” lunch at Pancho's Backyard. Getting the party off to a great start, members and their guests were served delicious, refreshing margaritas on arrival.

Inviting smells and colours guided everyone to take their seats. The authentic dishes were presented creatively making it a unique event. Each course was clearly inspired by the island. Fresh, local ingredients enchanted the diners as did the exclusive selection of quality Mexican wines.

It is hard to put into words the colours, emotions and camaraderie of the day, never mind the wonderful sunset which brought the event to a close.

Celebrating World Chaîne Day on Cozumel was a great success for Bailli Philippe Fournier, his members and their guests. As such it contributed to the triumph that was 2017’s worldwide festival of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.
