Myanmar Extracurricular Activities

Bailliage of Myanmar
Yangon, June 2017

Supporting good causes and promoting the Chaîne

The first group of members was formally signed up in May after a very successful launch dinner earlier in the month. With more members ready to join, a Chapitre is being planned for September so that they can all be inducted.

Besides these formal activities, the Bailliage is not only engaged in further promotion of the Chaîne in the country but also already engaged in supporting a charitable association.

Cooking for a good cause
“Myanmar Deaf Chefs”, a charitable association sponsored by the Bailliage of Myanmar, organized a special day on June 6th at the Little Sisters of the Poor home for the aged in Yangon.

The preparations started the day before when five deaf chefs with the support of the staff baked delicious cookies at Mahlzeit Restaurant for the event. On the day itself, with the support of two more chefs, the five helped to prepare and serve lunch for the guests of the hospice, Sisters and staff (almost 200 people).

It was a great moment of joy for everyone! The Bailliage is planning more community service activities with the support of sponsors in future.

Food & Hotel Myanmar 2017
Held at the Myanmar Convention Centre in Yangon from June 7th – 9th, the Bailliage was present at the exhibition thanks to UBM Myanmar who provided the Stand. It was a golden opportunity to promote the Chaîne to hospitality industry professionals and interested members of the public, therefore giving welcome support in developing the Confrérie in Myanmar.

2nd European Food Festival
Under the patronage of the Bailliage in collaboration with the European Union, Carlsberg (who provided 3000 litres of complimentary beer), and Yangon’s Rose Garden Hotel, this event was held on June 24th.

The best European restaurants in Yangon presented a mouth-watering selection of the very best their countries have to offer thus showcasing the culinary diversity of Europe with dishes on offer from 28 European countries.

The first Festival in 2016 was considered a huge success by attracting more than 600 people. This year there was double that number! All profits are being donated to the Myitar Yaung Chi Orphanage in Thanlyin, and to Myanmar Deaf Chefs.
