Toscano turns 10!
" Just for the evening they had sourced special treats from Provence "

It was a very special celebration for Bailliage members and their guests as the dinner was also a notable anniversary for Toscano, the highly popular restaurant started by Jean-Michel Jasserand, initially a Maître Rôtisseur but since promoted to be Conseiller Culinaire, and Maître Rôtisseur Goutham Balasubramanian 10 years ago in the lovely buzzy open air promenade of UB City, a luxurious address with some of the best dining and shopping options in Bengaluru.

Just for the evening they had sourced special treats from Provence the home of Jean-Michel Jasserand. From escargots to bouillabaisse and foie gras to cassoulet, it was an evening of excellent indulgence - pure French gastronomic style for the 50 participants.

In a neat twist, the wines were sourced from the New World. Australia was the country of choice, with the light, delicious Penfolds Koonunga Hill Chardonnay served with a hot Roquefort soufflé and the escargots à la bourguignonne. An oak-rich Chardonnay, D’Arenberg the Olive Grove, paired well with the foie gras and bouillabaisse de Marseille. Another Penfolds, a well-oaked Shiraz Cabernet blend, was the perfect partner for the delicious main course of either duck cassoulet or Provencal rack of lamb.

The ambience was warm and celebratory. On arrival everyone enjoyed Kir Royale with canapés whilst mingling at the reception. Lingering over a leisurely five-course menu in the semi al-fresco restaurant with music playing under the stars was indeed a delight. Coffee and petits fours ended the meal.

Our Bailliage wishes Jean-Michel and Goutham many more decades of gastronomic delights!
