Gastronometro the city’s leading gastronomy platform with its state-of-the-art facilities was our destination for this dinner. Established by Metro Cash & Carry in 2015 as a centre of excellence and education, its aim is to support gastronomy and improve culinary arts in Turkey.

The event was honoured by the presence of the renowned Christian Le Squer, Executive Chef of the Four Seasons “George V” in Paris and Chef of the hotel’s Michelin 3-star “Le Cinq Restaurant”. Christian was flown especially from Paris by Gastronometro to cook for Chaîne members and their guests.

At the elegant reception live stations offered many delicacies paired with selected alcoholic beverages. As a special gesture, Gastronometro opened its wine cellar to offer a comprehensive guided tasting of their wine collection paired with a rich variety of exclusive Turkish cheeses.   

Having taken their seats 90 participants eagerly awaited the six-course menu which Chef Le Squer had composed and his culinary team delivered. The courses were paired with superb wines carefully selected from Metro’s “Wise Wine” Collection by the well-known Turkish Food & Wine Critic Vedat Milor.

Bailli Délégué Mohamed Hammam presented Certificates of Recognition to the leaders of kitchen and service brigades. He presented a Bailliage of Turkey commemorative plaque to Chef Christian Le Squer in recognition of and appreciation for the composition and preparation of the exquisite menu.

Finally, Mohamed thanked Kubilay Ozerkan, CEO of Metro Cash & Carry, and the Director of Gastronometro, Officier Maître Rôtisseur Maximilian Thomae, for hosting this extraordinary event at their facilities. Maximilian was presented with a Bailliage of Turkey commemorative plaque in recognition of and appreciation for the culinary excellence and fine service.

In turn, Gastronometro presented everyone with a personalised copy of “The World of Food” by Christian Teubner (a tome weighing 3.8kg!) making this event truly memorable.
