India Gastronomic Picnic

Bailliage of Bangalore, India
Bengaluru, January 22, 2018

A touch of luxury at the Charity Gala Sundowner

The second edition of the Bailliage’s Gala Luxury Sundowner, the exclusive luxury picnic style format introduced last year, was held on a cool Sunday evening. Conceptualized to give an opportunity for all professional members, large and small, to showcase their cuisines, the event took place on the lawns at the ITC Gardenia.

The 25 pop-up stalls were laden with a wide variety of specially-prepared food, from interesting gourmet street food concepts to delicious small plates from both Indian and international cuisines.

For example, this variety gave Chaîne members and their guests the opportunity to taste:
- bite-sized mushroom crostini with truffle-Parmesan foam from Le Cirque at The Leela
- 'jalebi' chaat from Gangotree
- parinda mein parinda (chicken stuffed within a chicken) from Baluchi at The Lalit
- delicious curries from Vembanad at The Paul showcasing Kerala cuisine
- Punjabi kebabs and hearty curries from Baba da Dhaba
- lamb nihari with taftan bread by Dum Pukht at ITC Windsor
- fusion flavours in Hyderabadi haleem tartlets, Mysorepak cheesecake from Shangri-La

There was also a delightful array of dim sum, served piping hot with a range of fillings from Lantern, The Ritz Carlton, and Sriracha.

Wine offerings ranged from the best of Indian and international producers - from sparkling through to dessert wines.

Guests spent the evening walking from stall to stall, tasting, sipping and enjoying the glittering but relaxed ambience. To quote Gargi Guha of the Ritz Carlton, “I’m still in the afterglow of that wonderful Sunday. What a beautiful showcase of culinary delights and wines!”

The cherry on the cake were the generous funds collected for our Bailliage's support of a young culinary professional to further his/her education.

“We just can’t wait for next year’s event,” said one of the guests. Neither can we!!
