Establishing the OMGD is a significant development in itself. However the innovation does not end there as the National Council has also decided that Belgium will enter the International Jeunes Sommeliers Competition for the first time. Therefore, on March 30, 2020, the Bailliage is going to stage its first competition for young sommeliers working at Chaîne-member establishments in Belgium.
The winner will have the prestige of being honoured as the Bailliage’s “Best Young Sommelier for 2020” and represent Belgium at the International Final of the Jeunes Sommeliers Competition being held in Paris in September next year. As part of the prize, the winner will be further coached by our professional sommeliers for this international challenge.
Detailed information about the competition can be found at: Bailliage of Belgium website
To register their interest, potential competitors should send an e-mail to either:

If you are a passionate young sommelier and secretly dream of the ultimate perfection, then this challenge is definitely for you!
