Israel Gala Party

Bailliage of Israel
Tel Aviv, December 23, 2019

Back to basics: Meat, Meat, and more Meat
" the dress code was elegant black and white with ribbons "

We celebrated the end of 2019, the beginning of 2020 and our Hanukah holiday in one big Gala event. The venue was a new place in Tel Aviv ‘Alma Spencer’ owned by Maître Restaurateur Niv Raz and Samual Marcus.

Chef Itay Shalev with the help of our Conseiller Gastronomique Niv Gilboa devised “an all meat no carbs” menu especially for us. It was based on a wide variety of grilled, smoked and roasted meats.

To create a special atmosphere the dress code was “elegant black and white with ribbons”. The whole place was decorated effectively with special lighting highlighting the balloons.

We began with a reception which included cocktails and wine together with a buffet of three stations where starters with salads were made to order including tartare of fillet of beef, tataki sirloin and veal fillet.

Then we were invited to the dining area where we had a candle lighting ceremony. The honour of lighting the first candle was given to Bat Sheva Kokia, our oldest member who is celebrating 50 years in the Chaîne. There followed delightful entertainment from Chaîne member Orly Vered who sang and played the guitar. We all joined in singing Hanukah songs followed by a “happy holidays” toast.

To highlight the main dishes, we were regaled with fillet of beef, breast of mallard with maple marinade, and lightly-smoked beef asado accompanied by fire roasted vegetables.

After the main course we returned to the reception area where we danced well into the night to the great sounds of the DJ. We indulged in tasting the desserts on the buffet, in particular the special Hanukah jelly doughnut.

Happy New Year to Chaîne members everywhere!
