Where and when does a barbecue stop being a barbecue and become a gourmet lunch?

Members and guests from the Algarve, Lisbon and Estoril discovered that it indeed could happen. And it did at Monte Rei, a 5-star resort well known for its world class golf courses. Also well known for its Michelin star Executive Chef Rui Silvestre.

It was a very hot July day. On the terrace, by the pool, we enjoyed a perfect summer lunch. A selection of salads, grilled fish, assorted meats were prepared/cooked to perfection and served at table by very attentive staff.

All the while the Sommelier refreshed us with a very pleasant sparkling wine and a most enjoyable Fernão Pires white wine from Serradayres. Both were simply perfect with the delicious meal.

Some members stayed the night in one of the resort’s beautifully-appointed villas. After a siesta they were brave enough to have a dip in the pool and then to enjoy a gastronomic dinner at Rui Silvestre’s restaurant “Vistas”. An establishment that fully deserves its Michelin star.

All in all, it was another memorable event for the Chaîne in the Algarve!
