Switzerland Grand Chapitre

Bailliage of Switzerland
Lausanne, May 17-19, 2019

A beautiful celebration of gastronomy
" The day ended in the same venue in sartorial and gastronomic style "

The 12th Grand Chapitre organised by the local Bailliage of Pays de Vaud for the National Bailliage took place from Friday, May 17 to Sunday, May 19, 2019.

The traditional events of this Grand Chapitre unfolded against the stunning backdrop of several of the Chaîne’s establishments in Lausanne and Morges, and under the distinguished patronage of member of the Council of State, Jacqueline de Quattro.

Naturally, key moments were the Induction Ceremony and the outstanding gastronomic lunches and dinners.

The Bailliage of Switzerland’s first Grand Chapitre took place in Lausanne on December 6, 1951 at the Restaurant Métropole.

With all the Grands Chapitres organised since then the Bailliage of Pays de Vaud has considerable experience under its belt which no doubt contributed to the success of this event held in the presence of Inducting Officer Norbert Simon, Member of the Conseil Magistral from Austria, and our Bailli Délégué René Kamber, who is also a member of the Conseil Magistral.

On Friday evening participants met for an excellent “Welcome Dinner” at the Table d’Edgard in Lausanne Palace.

Saturday afternoon, after the General Meeting, it was time for the “Commandeurs” lunch in the Beau-Rivage Palace Hotel.

The moving Induction Ceremony was an exceptional moment which took place at the Royal Savoy Hotel.

Thirty-nine members were welcomed into the Confrérie, seven joined the ranks of the Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs (OMGD), and 19 members were promoted.

The day ended in the same venue in sartorial and gastronomic style, with a wonderful Gala Dinner.

Such a brilliant celebration could not come to a close on Sunday without an aperitif at the Restaurant du Club Nautique and a Farewell Lunch at the Romantik Hôtel Mont-Blanc au Lac, both in Morges.

The next Autumn Grand Chapitre will be held in Zermatt from Friday, September 6 to Sunday, September 8, 2019.
