Mexico Dinner

Bailliage of Guadalajara, Mexico
Guadalajara, September 21, 2023

A celebration to delight our senses
" the evening shared by us all was a declaration to the enduring power of food, art, and friendship "

In a world where gastronomy and art are revered as two realms of unlimited wisdom, our Bailliage’s recent dinner demonstrated their impressive convergence. About 65 members and their guests gathered at the Ex-Convento de Santa Teresa, a historic jewel nestled in the heart of Guadalajara’s historic centre to celebrate the pleasures of the table and the artistic riches of Mexico. We were welcomed with glasses of Szigeti Grüner Veltliner, Austria Método Tradicional N/V.

As the night progressed, it became clear that this event was more than just a culinary journey. It was a celebration of Mexico's rich cultural tapestry. Under the direction of Bailli Gabriel Pérez the event was a testament to the Confrérie’s commitment to fostering camaraderie among its members and supporting Mexican artists.

Bailli Honoraire Lorenza Dipp, our special guest of the evening, shared her invaluable experiences when she was Bailli. She offered expert recommendations to the current local Bailliage Board. Her words of wisdom added depth to the event’s atmosphere.

Zarur Collection presented a selection of works of art which offered a look into the world of Mexican creators and the culture of collecting. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting Mexican artists.

The evening’s culinary journey was meticulously curated by Chef Elías Sapién Jr, who guided guests through each dish on the menu. Vice-Échanson Miriam Núñez revealed the selection and pairing notes of the wines, ensuring that each dish complemented each other perfectly. What’s more, the atmosphere was enriched with live traditional Mexican classical music which contributed to the sensory delight.

With the menu concluded, warm appreciation went to Chef Elías together with the kitchen and service brigades. Their dedication to elevating cuisine and disseminating knowledge of the culinary arts was at its finest.

In every bite, every musical note, every shared laugh, the evening shared by us all was a declaration to the enduring power of food, art, and friendship. History, culture and creativity met on the plate. The bonds of camaraderie were strengthened with each toast.

Vive la Chaîne!
