Norway Grand Chapitre

Bailliage of Norway
Trondheim, August 25-27, 2023

40th Anniversary Celebration
" With nearly 400 attendees, Norway's largest Grand Chapitre created an unforgettable weekend "

This year Trøndelag, Norway's largest Bailliage, celebrated its 40th anniversary with Trondheim hosting the Grand Chapitre. Trøndelag's culinary excellence and warm hospitality led to Trondheim-Trøndelag becoming Norway’s first European Region of Gastronomy in 2022.

With nearly 400 attendees, Norway's largest Grand Chapitre created an unforgettable weekend in Mid-Norway's capital.

The weekend began with a “Get Together” at Scandic Nidelven Hotel where guests enjoyed a unique street food concept. The evening's entertainment featured Trondheim's former mayor, author, and Master of Ceremonies, Marvin Wiseth, who shared amusing tales from the city. Jazz artist Bjørn Alterhaug and his trio brought the evening to a close.

Saturday kicked off with an art walk exploring Trondheim's most impressive exhibitions and galleries. It concluded with an OMGD (Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs) lunch hosted by five excellent member restaurants: Bula Neobistro, Michelin starred Fagn, leBistro, The Crab, Rom og Kjøkken.

After a short break the Induction Ceremony took place in the impressive Lord's Hall within the historic Archbishop's Palace. Carl Wachtmeister, Member of the Conseils d’Administration and Magistral, came from his home to Sweden to be the Inducting Officer. Two hundred members received their first ribbon or were promoted.

Everyone then strolled to the 5-star Britannia Hotel for a magnificent Gala Dinner where each dish on the menu came from one of the various dining establishments at Britannia Hotel accompanied by perfect wine pairings.

Two members were honoured for their long-standing dedication and significant contributions to the development of the Chaîne:
- Hege Hildonen received the Chaîne’s Silver Award for her fantastic contribution since 2009. One of only two who have received this honour in Trøndelag.
- Rolf Brand received the highest Chaîne distinction, namely appointment to the Conseil d’Honneur. For many decades, Rolf has been an invaluable resource for Chaîne both nationally and internationally. As Norway's Bailli Délégué, he contributed to important improvements for the Chaîne organization worldwide.

The Chapitre ended at E.C. Dahl’s Pub og Kjøkken. Guests were invited to an open brewery including a tour by Finn Olufsen and a fantastic Sunday lunch. Before the lunch concluded, interested guests were invited to an exciting tour of the brewery.

True to tradition in Trondheim, the event ended with Scandic Hell Hotel's champagne bus to Værnes Airport. Very satisfied guests could enjoy Bollinger champagne flowing generously accompanied by a small box of exquisite appetizers.

Three delightful days of exquisite food, drinks, and camaraderie in charming Trondheim-Trøndelag came to an end. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us. We look forward to meeting you all again!
