Bailliage of Costa Rica
San José, January 27, 2017

A night on the 'Côte d'Azur'
" All in all it was an excellent start to a promising year! "

The Hotel InterContinental at Multiplaza Mall and its Executive Chef, Vincent Boutinaud, hosted the Bailliage’s annual Gala Induction event for this year.

An excellent turnout fully enjoyed fine food and drinks with the camaraderie characteristic of the Chaîne. Among the inductees Irina Briceño de De Lange was inducted as the new Bailli of San José.

The theme of the night was “Côte d´Azur”. Beautiful decorations greeted the guests upon arrival. Champagne, with three different amuses-bouches, was served during the reception. The official ceremony, presided over by our Bailli Délégué, Alain Taulère, in his capacity as a Member of the Conseil Magistral, included information from members of the National Council about the National Bailliage’s plans for the year.

At the celebratory dinner we enjoyed a four-course menu inspired by the French Riviera. Beautifully-presented and exquisitely-prepared by Chef Boutinaud and his staff, these comprised a tomato cream Martini with poached gnocchi, slowly-roasted beef with wine reduction, mille-feuille of goat’s cheese, and a trio of desserts (Opéra, crème brûlée à l’orange and rose macaroon).

Amongst the wines a 2008 Castillo de Valdestrada excelled. From the Extremadura region of Spain it is made from 100% Tempranillo. Further interesting anecdotes about the food and wines complementing the courses provided additional entertainment.

The delightful evening was topped off by a raffle where several guests went home with unexpected prizes. In the true spirit of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, the event brought people together to enjoy excellent food and drinks as well as each other´s company. All in all it was an excellent start to a promising year!
