For the first ever National Final of the Jeunes Sommeliers Competition in Mexico, eight competitors - no older than 30 years and advanced in wine knowledge - came to Mexico City from all over the country to participate.

The Hotel Presidente Intercontinental, which has one of the most prestigious wine cellars in the Americas, hosted the competition. The prize for the winner would be to represent Mexico at the 2017 International Final in Hungary at the end of September.

After an intense series of tests – comprising both theory and practice – Miguel Maldonado was awarded First Place.

The Runner-up was Miriam Nuñez and in Third Place was Manuel Bernal.

For their roles in organising such a successful event, special thanks are due to Bailli Pablo Campos, Luis Antonio Morones (Head Sommelier at the Hotel Presidente Intercontinental) and Johan Manuel Valderrabano (Sommelier Manager at Bodegas Enate).
